NEW YEAR, NEW JOYS

It's been another year like no other, and one that has highlighted how precious our planet is.

As we enter the start of a new year our thoughts naturally turn to resolutions – fresh starts, new beginnings, and a chance to introduce different habits and routines into our lives.

It's given us plenty of food for thought on how we can make our own meaningful new year's resolutions – changes that will bring us joy and have a positive effect on the environment, as well as our society and bodies. Here at La Perla Beauty, we’ve always been conscious of the little details, and we believe no change or gesture is too small to make a difference. So with that in mind, we've asked our team to share their resolutions for 2022.

This new year, we are still under the pandemic threat, so I want to focus on getting happiness from small things in everyday life: riding my bike to the office under the winter sun (so much more pleasurable than in the rain!); regular yoga sessions; enjoying a yummy restaurant or a fab movie with my family; outdoorsy weekends with friends. I think that enjoying the more simple things gives you a happiness shot every day.

JUANITA CID, CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

Building up our company and wonderful brand over the past two years has been nearly my sole focus. I know I have been neglecting my family, close friends – and my dog! Starting now, I want to give them more of my time. In stressful times I always forget how much fun it is to be around them, hear differing views, get a hug or just have a good old-fashioned bout of laughter that lifts the spirits.

STEFANIE FITZGERALD, SVP BRAND, PRODUCT & DIGITAL

My new year's resolution is to live in the here and now, with less longing for the future and wishing days away, and more focus on getting the most from each day with little wins.

LUCY EIFION-JONES, GLOBAL TRADE MARKETING ASSISTANT

2021 was such a strange, disrupted year. So my new year's resolution (beyond my famous evergreen 'do more sport and learn new recipes!') is to simply get back to doing the things I used to do 'before', in order to feel like I'm moving on. I realise it’s a lot about human connection, experience, and discovery: travelling, even if it's only 50 miles away just to see a new place and breathe new air; visiting my family and friends across the Channel; reconnecting with people as well as making new friends.

CLAIRE BORIES-AZEAU, HEAD OF GLOBAL TRADE MARKETING

My beloved dog gives me energy and fun every day. I can't look at him and not smile. He will chase his ball 24 hours a day. I want to focus on him. Professionally, I want to lead by example, with delegation and trust. I'd like to be thought of as someone who has mentored and encouraged some of the best people in our industry. In both my work and personal life, I want to quantify in real terms our sustainability and social commitments. Also, I want to get more exercise, and travel even more!

LES SMITH, CHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER

In the new year, I hope that old routines and habits will be pushed aside and that I will re-discover the things I loved when I was younger. It may be nostalgic or a result of being an empty-nester now, but things like playing music loud and dancing in the kitchen, going to an art gallery and stopping for a cappuccino by myself, or calling up a friend at the last minute to go to a movie – these are simple things that I am sure will renew my energy after these surreal years we have had. I started learning Italian during lockdown, so I hope to practise it in Italy in 2022, and visit some of the wonderful places that could use a bit of tourism again.

BARBARA PREYSSAS, MARKETING DIRECTOR

This year I am inspired by a quote from Tony Robbins: 'Setting goals is the first step into turning the invisible into the visible'

ONEEKA BOTU, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SALES AND EDUCATION NORTH AMERICA

This year I want to focus on others, travel around the world, share time with loved ones, cook pastries, and be fulfilled at work. I would also like to devote my time to charitable work where I can, and be happy and healthy!'

SERENA M'BENGUE, OFFICE MANAGER

My resolution is to embrace and enjoy the present, while setting goals for my future self. I don’t want to get lost in what is to come, but I want to keep a steady eye on what I want to achieve and accomplish while truly living in the moment!

CAROLYNN SCULL, ACCOUNTS AND MARKETING MANAGER NORTH AMERICA

My new year's resolution is to spend more time outdoors in nature. It’s something I do a lot when I go on holiday as I love exploring new places, but I want to make an effort to get outside more when I'm at home, too, as many days of the week as possible. In the era of WFH it’s easy to spend the day chained to a desk, so this small change will bring a lot of joy to my life!

ANNIE BOWMAKER, GLOBAL CONTENT MANAGER

We hope our team's resolutions have been inspirational. We would also love to hear from you, so you can help inspire other La Perla women to be the best they can be! How are you aiming to make a positive impact next year? Tell us your plans, or let us know how we can do better in the year ahead.
