You had a feeling that he was going to be here, at the party.

And as your eyes meet across the dancefloor, there's no turning back. With the thrill of that first glance, as suggestive as the scent of cardamom, the desire to move closer becomes irresistible – and you both know that it's time to Let The Dance Begin.

Naturally, you will be the one to initiate things – but the timing should always be right. It's with the opening staccato notes of spicy black pepper that you decide to make your move, approaching to the hypnotic beat of sweet davana. The first touch of ylang-ylang is almost electric, and then, the melody unfolds. It's the rush of heady tuberose that sets your pulses racing. As the tempo intensifies, the passionate warmth of sandalwood draws you even closer, your heartbeats and steps no longer calculated, but effortlessly working together, as one.

With the thrill of that first glance, as suggestive as the scent of cardamom, the desire to move closer becomes irresistible – and you both know that it's time to Let The Dance Begin.

The deeply seductive intensity of this gourmand perfume is deliciously balanced, with a chemistry that's mysterious yet instantly familiar. It's a thrill you will want to relive again and again – that's why the deep burgundy glass flacon that holds it is refillable.

This beautifully choreographed dance is just the first of many.

Discover the Ingredients

We use the latest scientific techniques and safe-synthetic ingredients to create all of our fragrances, including Let The Dance Begin.

Cardamom

The scent of Cardamom captivates from the first instant, yet lingers with deep richness for hours.

Intriguing top notes of cardamom bring a delicately sweet spiciness to this fragrance. It captivates from the first instant, yet lingers with deep richness for hours. The aromatic oil is extracted through steam distillation, taken from the seeds of the plant's fruits, which take around four years to mature. This slow cultivation process makes it one of the most expensive spices in the world, and one of the most desirable of the perfumer's palette.

Tuberose

Such is the hypnotic allure of Tuberose, there were fears during the Renaissance that younger women could succumb to the delicate white flower's narcotic perfume, so they were forbidden from walking in gardens at night.

Said to be the most fragrant plant in the world, tuberose is deep, rich and intense – it's no wonder it's famed for its seductive qualities, and can be found at the heart of this perfume. It has a rich history, too – the Aztecs are believed to have perfumed their chocolate with the scent, and in India it is seen as an erotic, aphrodisiac scent, so has long been used as perfume for weddings. Such is its hypnotic allure, there were fears during the Renaissance that younger women could succumb to the delicate white flower's narcotic perfume, so they were forbidden from walking in gardens at night.

Sandalwood

Deep and earthy, yet blooming with sweet softness, sandalwood is a scent of great complexity.

Deep and earthy, yet blooming with sweet softness, sandalwood is a scent of great complexity. Used as an aid for meditation, it has fragranced spiritual ceremonies in India for centuries, and its mystical character is truly celebrated amid the seductive tones of Let The Dance Begin. As a languorous fragrance, it has been used as a base note in many of history's most beautiful and popular perfumes, but here it is the star from the first spray.

Meet the Perfumer

When he graduated with a degree in chemistry, Dominique Preysass, the nose behind Let The Dance Begin, was following a purely scientific path. That's until he answered to a more creative calling. He had always had a sensitive nose, and he hated the unpleasant smell of the chemicals in the labs he studied in. So when he discovered the world of perfumes through a family friend, he immediately knew this was the career for him. Dominique went on to be part of the opening class of the renowned ISIP Perfumery School in Versailles, France, and won the prize for best creation upon graduating.

What process of perfume-making do you enjoy the most?

I love it all, actually. The scientist in me loves the challenge of formulating a product – that is, finding the right materials, the precise measurements. The aesthete in me, meanwhile, loves the pure beauty of smelling creations, imagining new ideas and gathering inspiration from artistic sources.

What was your inspiration for this scent?

I imagined a couple having their first close dance. Whether it's fast or slow, there will be many moments when their two bodies intertwine, with a feeling of delicious excitement as skin touch skin, and the temperature rises. They may not know each other well yet, but after this dance they will want to know each other better!

If you had to choose a place that evokes Let The Dance Begin, where would it be?

A darkened dance floor, set up outdoors. It would be under some large trees, and they'd have those romantic fairy lights strung up among them.

Does it remind you of a certain olfactive memory?

That feeling of really wanting to get to know someone... it reminds me of the tantalising smell of a delicious cake as it comes out of the oven! You just can't resist it – that warm, sweet and slightly spicy aroma. That's the memory I used for inspiration.

Which is your favourite of the ingredients?

Sandalwood is the star, for me. Until recently, sandalwood forests were diminishing and vulnerable to over-exploitation. But this fragrance uses sandalwood that is sustainable, exclusively from a plantation in Sri Lanka that is organically certified and recognised by the Forest Stewardship Council. This ensures that the soil, water and eco-systems as well as the people employed to harvest it are cared for. The Sandalwood Album (or the 'heartwood') variety is celebrated for its exceptionally soft, milky tones and subtle sensuality.

What other of the scent's ingredients do you love?

First of all, there is the smoky, floral spice of Cardamom. It used to be known as the “Fire of Venus” because of its alluring, romantic effect. Here, it gives a cool spiciness to the top of the composition, and it introduces the scent's delicious gourmand character.

The sexy heart of the perfume is the magnificent, night-blooming tuberose. Tuberose brings a creamy, powdery muskiness which for me is the epitome of sultry sophistication. The petals only open after dark, when they are hand-picked for fragrance extraction. The extract is dense and rich, like a crème brulée.

When do you think a woman will wear this scent?

I'd say when she is feeling 'ready for anything'. This perfume will make her feel even more beautiful, sexy and confident. And, while it is perfect for a special occasion, it has an addictive yumminess that will have her coming back for more... like the delicious cake! I think she will want to wear it all the time.

What is one of your favourite quotes about scent?

This, from Charles Baudelaire: “My soul travels on the smell of perfume like the souls of other men on music.”
